Commonwealth Salute (Symphonic Band) by Craig Hallatt

Commonwealth Salute was written to celebrate Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. The music naturally focuses on the celebratory nature of the event but also reflects on some of the more poignant moments of her reign. The occasion when Princess Elizabeth was informed of her Father, King George VI’s, death for instance, whilst touring the Commonwealth countries in 1952. In a speech on her twenty-first birthday, Princess Elizabeth dedicated her life to the service of the Commonwealth. Throughout her 70-year leadership, Queen Elizabeth II was steadfast in her dedication to and respect for the Commonwealth. Her legacy is the tangible and unwavering bond of friendship that thrives between the member nations.

In a jubilant ending, church bells (represented by Tubular Bells in the score) can be heard ringing out across the land in celebration of this moment in history.

This magnificent setting for Symphonic Band is by the composer, Craig Hallatt.
